Thomas Paine - Father of the American Revolution...

died 200 years ago this very day.

Only 6 people attended his funeral yet Barak Obama saw fit to include "Let it be told to the future world... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive... that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]", in his inauguration speech that was taken from Paine's Crisis No. 1.

Thing is, Paine was from Thetford in Norfolk, that's in good ol' Blighty for those that don't know and, were it not for his pamphlet 'Common Sense', it's unlikely that the good ol' US Revolution would have taken place.

It's a pity Tom didn't hang around here, we could do with a cleansing revolution right now.
