New Kiss Album

There is a new Kiss album coming out this fall called "Sonic Boom". I used to be a big fan as a kid, have all the albums, and love the original line up and their records to this day...

But I don't know about this. They have plenty of fans that continue to buy into their image and get sucked up by it all. That happened to me around 1992! Well after they took the makeup off. But nowadays I feel their every move is calculated and contrived. Right down to the point of trying to imitate the way they used to sound, and constantly trying to pick up the Kiss Army and transport them back to 1976, when they peaked.

The new lead off track is Modern Day Delilah. What the hell is that? What's rock n' roll or Kiss like about that? What the hell is a Delilah? That's not a Deuce, a Strutter, or even a Domino. Johnny Cash had a Delia, but he shot her! I almost think they should hang it up.

I'm done ranting. This is the last time you'll hear about Kiss in a Stereolab forum.

Re: New Kiss Album

i don't get it. Wasn't the whole point of Kiss in the first place to be calculated and contrived? They were a glorified boy band.

Re: New Kiss Album

Boy bands didn't exist in the 70's. And they've never played loud rock music, smashed guitars, or spit blood up so I think you're way off the mark there. Kiss is more akin to the likes of Alice Cooper, following in his footsteps and being one of the first bands to develop an over the top stage show. Kiss plays their shit live. Boy bands dance and sing oooooh baby lip-syncing with a bunch of dancers to a choreographed routine. They couldn't be any more different!

Kiss, N'Sync... no I don't think so.

Anyone seen Role Models?

That's the movie that came out recently with Paul Rudd? Well anyway's there's a KISS gimmick in there. That got me into them for a while. Thet best tracks on the Greatest Hits were pretty much from '76. I don't see another reason for a reunion.
