I guess you were lying, you did have other problems. When you realized no one was agreeing with you, an apology might have been in order, instead:

It became, I gave away something I did not have permission to give away (wrong) and that the item was "grossly overpriced" and not in fact rare.

Lastly, it got romantic about what music means to the soul and how holy you were because you don't buy music to sell. Then on into the (your) myth of the rarity of this item. A quote from Eddie Chargeman (do you read his posts!?)
