Here's what I reckon:

Take Dots album tracks, subtract "Diagonals" (wanky pseudo-jazz), "Prisonoer of Mars" (weak triphop ballad) and "Parsec" (dated D&B jazz-wanky hybrid), replace them with "Allures" (well done pop in the vein of "Cybele's"), "I Feel The Air" (epic transcendence), "Spinal Column" (excellent hybrid of guitar, drum machine, mellotron and a genuinely sincere, unlike that "Parsec" indulgence, melody) and maybe even "Incredible He-Woman" (this was more of what I expected before I got Dots) and then you might be closer to a genuine masterpiece. Some of the non album tracks are proof that occasionally Stereolab chooses chaff in favor of wheat when it comes to track inclusion for the LP.
