I think Broadcast know which direction is best for them. People always complain about "same old" stuff, but when it comes down to it they are uncomfortable with results if things stray too far from a recognized sound or formula. Personally I love their recent spectral leanings, which offers a dizzying, heady play on their long-established sound.

I'm so grateful they don't churn out generic indie pop with a bland and lazy shoegazer sheen like so many other bands do.
