Under Bush there were about 22 stem cell lines allowed, some not any good anymore. Now they can use good stem cells. The limitation in use was irrational, absurd, and political.
California has been supportive of stem cell research, which is not surprising, even with Arnold as gov.
Thousands of human embryos are destroyed each year. We can use them for research and eventually save lives.
Stem cells are derived from 4 or 5 day old embryos.
I am very much in favor of in vitro treatments for women who need it, and to use remaining embryos for research. Ethics are something that you decide for yourself when weighing the facts. I have made that decision for myself as we all do. Bringing up Mengele is very insulting.

You've cleverly sidestepped a straightforward, non-personal question, one that was a genuine and solely for the purposes of information - the OP topic is clearly not restricted to stem cell research as a main point of Pres Obama's pre-election campaign.
If the question was with regard to your personal decisions, then your refusal to answer would be your prerogative.
However, you have chosen to express personal opinion in your post, so the first question still stands :
What independent evidence is there that has reassured you of the ethical nature of stem cell research?
And, secondly :

There are some things that seem so obvious, that I don't think time should be wasted forming an independent study in the first place. Ever see a study, where you laugh when you hear about the results and you're just like "Well, no shit! Money was wasted studying THAT?". :)
I've read enough about stem cell research to think it's silly to not use the cells that will be thrown away anyway.
