Re: men @ work - plagiarists?

it's a folk song!! the fact that this party is taking credit for it is ridiculous! unless they sampled the bit from their recordings which may be the case. That song is 200 years old.
okay, I wrote Oh Susannah ! you all owe me mega bucks. lawyers really are irritating some times. f'n shysters! I want my Oh Susannah money. hurry.

Re: men @ work - plagiarists?

No, it's not a folk song (in the sense that it has an easily-verifiable author) and it's more like 75 years old, not 200. Plus, it's somehow still under copyright in Australian law...for another 30 years!

Re: men @ work - plagiarists?

Just like Happy Birthday...which is not allowed to be sung on tv or in restaurants without paying royalties. That's why all those crap chain theme restaurants have their own dumb birthday songs.

Re: men @ work - plagiarists?

I just listened to a better version of Kookaburra...definitely not enough. The second part is very close, but that melody is so trite and common, it should be thrown out. Although, your copyright is only as good as your lawyer.
