Yeah, he's a dick about it.
Radiohead covered one of his songs, and someone put up a Youtube (or whatever) video of it, and Prince had it pulled, which ended up pissing off Radiohead. There's probably some other juicy gossip details there, but I don't remember or may not have heard it all. I seem to remember that Radiohead was trying to get it back up, or fighting back somehow, maybe trying to keep Prince cover Radiohead or something, but I could be wrong.

Re: prince.

When Prince went all religious (Jehovah's Witness was it?) and he vowed to not perform his older, sexual-themed songs, I stopped paying attention to him since he's obviously lost his damn mind. :)

Re: prince.

Yeah, what Labhead said, "he's a dick about it." Prince is way ahead of the curve in terms of experience with computers, compared to other artists from his era and before, coupled with his issues with Warners, and you have someone who has given a LOT of thought to the matter. Unfortunately, we lose because of it. Just like how the Sign O the Times film never got a DVD release in the US, or the myriad reissues/remasters which will never happen, etc. It's maddening.

Re: prince.

He lost me with Graffiti Bridge. I was so psyched to see it, and I left the theatre thoroughly disappointed. I tried giving him chances over the years, but the quality just was not there as it had been. 3121 was certainly a positive step back to that place where it could be argued that he was one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived.

Does this make old Prince vinyl worth more dollars? I only ask because when me and my college gf broke up, I ended up with a bunch of Prince seven inches, like 10-15 of them.

Re: prince.

It's not uncommon to see him around Minneapolis now and then. A friend of mine sat right behind him at a 1st Avenue (famed local club once owned by Prince and featured in Purple Rain) a couple weeks ago. She said it was surreal.

He's super pretentious, but I suppose that's sort of unavoidable once you've reached legendary status. The guy is a helluva performer. I saw him back in 1997. Dude fucking rocked.

I must say, his guitar playing is phenominal, he blows me away when I've seen him live on TV.
