That Tortoise video reminds me why I don't like shows at pubs. People never STFU! I mean, music like this has a lot of air in it, and all you can hear is drunk people jabbering. I saw Stereolab in Edinburgh at the Corn Exchange and when the played Jenny Ondioline or Ping Pong it was all good, but when they played Blue Milk it was like people though it was intermission and just talked (shouted) with each other. Anyone else feel this way or am I just getting old and cranky? ............................................... yes me I'm old and cranky. I like watching or listening to live music sometimes. There is something to be appreciated about the recorded music. It's been edited and engineered to portray what the artists' intended objective. I like that. I just wish I had a better system for listening and appreciating. I do enjoy watching my favorite band Stereolab perform. and the other artists. It's fun to go to the show but I don't make a habit of it like I'm 21 years old or something, hanging out all the time or whatever. I go to the shows maybe 5-10 times a year. but lately it's been less often. I enjoy listening to the groop but most of the shows are too way fakey for me. It's like this, can you step on something?? can you follow a lighting cue? can you be hypnotized?? okay you're a brilliant audience performer topic. allright!! |

I agree. The only time I ever saw Kings of Convenience it was at a similar venue. The place was packed full of drunk chicks and asshole frat dudes. I shoved my way to the front to hear a couple songs and then ended up just leaving as I couldn't hear a damn thing. It was so frustrating as I was really looking forward to that show. |

Do you guys know the From The Basement series? Now that is what I like! I've seen Band of Horses, Jack White, Radiohead, My Morning Jacket and a few others. It is live studio recording, HD video and looks and sounds great on a 50 inch plasma and 300 watt sound system. No need to go out and deal with the idiots.
