I primarily use What.CD, it's about all you need. It's a private torrent tracker, by invitation only, but I have an invite for you if you'd like one. I'll need your email address.

Not that I know of, it just means it's by invitation, and they have some ratio upkeep requirements. It's very comprehensive though, prepare to be pleased. If you don't see the invite, be sure to check your junk mail folder.

Yes, but nothing crazy. Firstly, you'll need to download a torrent client program. There are several available. I use uTorrent. It's simple and easy and free, just google it. Most of the etiquette involves insuring "seeding", which basically means leaving your torrent client open and active so others can access the same information you've downloaded from off of your computer. You will, in effect, upload to them. So, in order to keep you membership active and in good standing, you'll need to maintain a certain ratio of upload to download, by "seeding" the various torrent files. It's pretty easy really.

mikka000 wrote: er no. i'm new to torrents. is there an etiquette? Etiquette really ought to be the least of your concerns... "BitTorrent can be used to deliver any type of file. BitTorrent is purely a content distribution method and (just like a web browser) does not incorporate any technology to differentiate between content that is legitimately shared and content that is pirated. Remember, anybody can see your IP address when using peer to peer clients (like µTorrent), which identifies your computer on the internet. Take care to follow your country's laws concerning copyrighted content." and... "You should treat something downloaded with BitTorrent just like any file downloaded from the internet - that is, if you don't trust the source of the file, then you should use caution when opening it. If the torrent site you obtained it from offers comments, be sure to read those first. But regardless of the comments, running a virus scan on the downloaded files is usually a good idea. µTorrent guarantees that the content you download is not altered from when the torrent was originally created, but if the source files used to create the torrent were already infected, this will provide no protection!" Source of both quotes http://www.utorrent.com/documentation/beginners-guide Ultimately, however unfair it may seem, you takes responsibility for your actions, if you can't, then don't do it. ~8^)>
