valleys of neptune
I used to love Hendrix for his talent alone, but I’ve gone through a fundamental change over the years where I need more sound in the empty places between the instruments. It’s as if I no longer care about the talent of the player of the particular instrument, but need the collective whole effect to satisfy. This new release is somewhat monolithic with the enmphasis on the guitar as his music always was. I like the more bluesy tunes like Red House and Crying Blue Rain. Mr. Bad Luck on this release is also good.

Re: valleys of neptune
I totally agree, this sounds like an unfinished collection of basic tracks that the experience were putting down. Jimi would have done more overdubs to these tracks before they were released. The foundations here are good, but they need more.
Also, the re-recordings of 'Fire' and 'Stone Free' are not as good as the originals. Why would they re-record these tracks anyway?!
