One more: I have no idea, I would believe it's their work only if there were no vocals and melodies didnt sound so banal

cool, I was 99% sure those were Gilberto's vocals What I meant by banal is that it sounds a bit too classical, I'm pretty sure Tim and Sean could make stuff sound a bit spacy and unusual even if it had (as Martin said)brazilian tint |

The absence of original music from the trailer might be explained as sometimes films have two different soundtracks: the original motion picture score (in this case it would be by Tim and Sean) and a compilation of songs (in this case it looks like it is a selection of popular 60's Brazilian classics). The latter has normally more impact for advertising purposes as the public recognise the old stuff. A couple of random examples from the past: TALK TO ME (a 2007 movie with Don Cheadle playing a famous DJ/talk show host in the 70's) had a fantastic Terence Blanchard original score and a nice selection of 60's and 70's R&B milestones. However, on the released soundtrack the Blanchard's score sadly does not appear, with the exception of the "end titles" track. Second example is Tim Burton's BATMAN (1989). Two original scores in this case: an instrumental one by Danny Elfman and a whole LP of songs by Prince. Both of them were released as separate albums. More often the two things are mixed together and I think this is most likely to be the case for Copacabana: it is not a huge Hollywood production (i.e. BATMAN) so I doubt it very much that they will release two records from it! But this is all speculation. It might even be possible that they will remove the old songs if they have not made a copyright deal. And as much as I love MPB (Brazilian popular music), in this case I would definitely prefer a CD made exclusively of Tim and Sean's original material. |
