I stopped looking for bands I could corroborate with the groop. It's fruitless. It doesn't exist and I don't believe it will. |

I'm very optimistic about Laetitia's future endeavors. Her solo work keeps getting better and better. Her guest spots and collaborations are always spot on. |

Prolific yes but.... I think this all a bit irrelevant really, the circumstances surrounding the formation of the groop are never going to happen again as the (seemingly) disparate strands of music they brought together are now so overground! I find it really odd that with the whole diyism that all this technology promised (and has allowed us) that there aren't groups putting out (self released) digital releases at every opportunity, I honestly thought that there would be an explosion in the same vain as the 7" thing in the late 70's/ early 80's....

Bands are putting out TONS of music. A manageable way to sift through it doesn't really exist anymore though. |

It never did exist, so far as I know. Used to be all the music was locked up in the record store and you were only allowed access to that which you could afford to buy. |

I guess I meant more in a cultural sense than in an economic sense. I feel like critics, magazines, etc, don't have as much pull as they used to, so we're faced with 100 albums, 15 of which we might like, but we don't even know about them because they're just released into a vacuum. Sure, that's always existed to some degree, but I see more and more friends who put out amazing music getting little to no gains even when they get "coverage." I mean, I feel like even Pitchfork couldn't break a band right now like they broke Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Oh, and also, I don't think there are any heirs to Stereolab just yet. And I don't think those heirs would necessarily be producing music similar to theirs either. |
