Though I read the forum occasionally, I have not posted anything until now:
Yesterday, I attended a show of German cabaret artist Rainald Grebe. In the break, some Samba background music was played. I was totally perplexed when the second track turned out to be some sort of Samba version of Ping Pong. I must have been a cover rather than an icidental similarity because the melody was identical. However, the instrumentaion was different and at least in my memory there were no real lyrics, but just some la la las sung by a woman and a man. The sound guy didn't know anything about the music on the CD and told me that it had been given to him by that cabaret artist, who unfortunately didn't turn up after the show so that I couldn't ask him. Can anybody provide information on that Ping Pong cover version? I would really like to get hold of that CD.
sorry Sue that was to Cheeso because we once too, had a lightweight love affair. and he invited me to Stereolab and Air at Hollywood Bowl. But, I couldn't make it. but he's a complete gentleman. and we both like Debussey, Claire de Lune.
