I saw Chuck Leavell in concert in '09. Does that count? He has played keyboard for the Allman Brothers Band and the Rolling Stones.

Wish list: all of the above.

I was thinking classic meant pre-1980 more or less.

Classic would be:

An band/artist who transcends their genre and/or has longevity, is iconic and/or massively influential...

So, Nirvana fits, Chuck Leavell/Modest Mouse-not so much.

The Velvet Underground/The Stones/The Beatles-yes, The Holy Modal Rounders/The Fugs-no.

James Brown-yes, Shuggie Otis-no.

Seen:
Motorhead (11 times)
Hawkwind
AC/DC
Girlschool
Venom
Budgie
Tiger Lillies
Dropkick Murphys
The Reverend Horton Heat
The Who
The Groop
The New Pornographers
The View
The Go! Team
The Grates
Arcade Fire
Mariza
Katie Melua
And many more 'minor' bands, some of whom could certainly be considered as wankers.

Missed:
Sparklehorse (now too late)
Fugazi
The Strokes

Some of these bands elicit a "who the fuck are they" so not classic, imo:
Girlschool
Venom
Budgie
Tiger Lillies
Dropkick Murphys
The Reverend Horton Heat
The New Pornographers
The View
The Go! Team
The Grates
Arcade Fire
Mariza
Katie Melua

The Groop are arguably the ultimate cult band. They approach classicism, as they've, at times, transcended whatever genre they might be in, they are iconic, influential, they've had a long career...but, I know to a large part of the population, they'd still elicit a "Who the fuck are they?"

Well, Nutter my friend, most are classic to me. I like the fact that most people would think "Who the f*ck are they?". I value my individuality and slight eccentricity. Have you ever seen the Tiger Lillies? VERY original, one of a kind, a classic.
Apparently, Take That are now the best British band. Does that make them classic? Most of Britain might say yes. I would rather see the Tiger Lillies thank you.

The Mac are good, and they have a rich and varied musical legacy that goes far beyond your comprehension.

NIN are shit.

They're good if you're over 50. lol I like the classics. But, come on.

Admit it. You're into flat and boring. That's cool. Just think twice before you talk about tastes. Varied applies to other genres as well.

My taste is impeccable. And your response proves you know little to nothing of the history of Fleetwood Mac.

Your tastes fits your name-useless and stale. You might as well have said Steely Dan.

Saw:
Slick Rick
Ozzy

Missed:
McCartney

If you can't comprehend why they're legends then this is pointless.
