electrelane

they are a good band, made one of my fave albums, back in 2006. going to see them at field day. they do sound like early sterolab. but not so deep. thats why i like em. i've heard people on here mention them a few times, too. so maybe this topic is a but obvious, or trying to fit in. i heard some of their other stuff on spotify. their ethos is different to stereolabs, but musically they are extremely good!

Re: electrelane

Yes, at last they're back! Electrelane are a fantastic, much underrated band. The hiatus has come to an end after four years which gives us a bit of hope regarding Stereolab. In many ways Electrelane and early Lab are somewhat similar. Both have driving rhythms, a heavy use of keyboards which often drone, and long songs. They are also one of the few 'proper' bands that write songs with very few lyrics, and it all works beautifully. All the albums were great, but for me, 'Rock It To The Moon' and 'Axes' were the best. Lots of great stuff available on You Tube too.

I'm looking forward to seeing them in Brighton and London in July, and then we will have to see if a new album follows.

Although Ros Murray is fine, I was sorry when Rachel Dalley left. Anyone any idea what she did after she left and what she's up to now?

Re: electrelane

I think she played bass, you can see her on that photo (in the right)

in 2004 she was replaced by Ros Murray:

Re: electrelane

Rachel Dalley did indeed play bass guitar. She can be seen in the background on the following link.

Ah yes. Hey I don't think I've ever seen the girl who's singing actually playing guitar. Only seen her on keyboards. I saw them live once at an instore gig. Perhaps I should learn their names...

You are referring to Verity Susman who usually sings and plays keyboards, but also plays guitar and saxaphone. The following link will show her on guitar.

The other members are Mia Clarke on guitar, Ros Murray on bass, and Emma Gaze on drums.
