Obviously. As I said myself in the post that picture was meant to illustrate, (while it could be said the problem began with the formation of OPEC in 1965) the first 'gas crisis' began with price controls established by Nixon and continued under Ford.

This is not proof of murder and mayhem, just a line.
Well, once again. Obviously. I meant for that photo to depict long lines at gas pumps in 1973 in New York City.

(Proof of murder and mayhem comes only after I establish a proper historical context and lay down a solid foundation for my claims.)

My purpose in using that particular picture was to begin contrasting and comparing the situation then (73) with the situation later (79) under Carter. Complete with relevant articles, essays, book reviews, charts and graphs and pictures with circles and arrows clearly drawn, so you could not possibly question my motives, dispute my facts, doubt my conclusions, or miss my point.

(My point is, I think you misunderstand this as a partisan diatribe against Carter, rather than a patriotic personal lament about political decay.)

However, I got called out of town unexpectedly, (family emergency) and I'm still on the road until later this week.

You must wait until then for the next exciting episode of "The Decline and Fall of the American Empire" exclusively here on the Psi-Phi channel!

In the meantime, look it up. Riots. Fistfights. Gunfights. Murder. Mayhem. Malaise.

It all happened in 1979. Carter was President. I know whereof I speak. I was there, and I wrote about it all then, while it was happening.

I never said I thought or felt that Carter was the cause of it all, or even responsible for all that happened. In fact, my point has mainly been that despite his sincerity and good intentions, he was ineffectual. Bumbling and stumbling and fumbling through a mess made by scoundrels and idiots that came before him, it has been argued, even by his closest allies, that he made it worse.

Give it a rest, man.
