First circumnavigation of the Moon December 24 - 25 1968.

Jim Lovell's remark was referring to the relief the crew felt at the successful firing of the SPS for the trans-earth injection burn while on the dark side of the moon...

Thanks Wracket.

BTW - try the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden while you're there. They have live jazz (upstairs) every weekend - sometimes well known jazzers from Ronnie Scott's. It also has one of the best selections of Scotch malt whiskeys (try the Laphroaig!) in the city centre and the real ale is excellent...

Cheers!

Thank you Jorbel, you are very kind! - I didn't think I had any friends left on here these days...

The 'Earthrise' image is very personal to me. I remember how I felt that Christmas of 1968 looking up at the moon knowing there were three human beings circling it - it was very special, and I have fused it with the feeling of 'Christmas' ever since. This was thus my Christmas card to forumites this year.
