Re: Christmas Cards

Christmas Card from one of My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Greetings! Intrigued to find this forum. Introduced only recently to Stereolab by a fanatic, I chanced to be at a concert where Laetitia performed solo as one of the opening acts. I was transported! Her voice expresses a personage, mystical and magical. She was THERE!

In the sense of Presence. Art without artifice.

Everything about her was radiant with Genuine-ness. I fell in love. With her. She is. French. Unadorned. Beautiful. Without need of adornment, she is transcendentally beautiful.

I am a convert. To all things Laetitia. Including Stereolab, obviously. When she introduced the song 'International Coloring Contest' the crowd went wild. I had never heard it before.

I couldn't get enough of it afterward. Anyway.

Greetings! I readily recognize that there are many long-time fans on this Forum. I am definitely new to the culture of Stereolab. I will probably look and listen for a while.

how's this coming along? haven't read anything from you regarding this.

Yes. Wow. (Busted!)

The embarrassing truth is that I am (temporarily) presently so broke that I can't pay attention! (Much less buy an album. It's a long story.)

The aforementioned fanatic who introduced me to StereoLab in the first place, promised to loan me a copy of the (CD) album 'Mars Audiac Quintet' with the single "International Coloring Contest" on it, but then couldn't find it.

Long story. Lots of changes. I started getting paid for my work on the Project I started.

It's the New Year! 2012! My hope is to acquire many of the finer things in life (like indoor plumbing, cookware, and food.) Likewise music.

See, I thought my life was complete, musically, with Bach, Beethoven, The Beatles, Santana, and Woodstock. (Not to mention Elvis, Sinatra, Janis and Jimi, etc.) Stereolab was the first musical revelation that had I experienced for at least a decade (unless I count Eric Sardinas, Solecism, and The Red Elvises (Zhenya Rock!))

Eric Sardinas:

Red Elvises:

I confess I feel a little intimidated, too, by the level of sophistication and depth of experience on the part of members posting here, especially the group posting about the Groop!

Consequently, I have tended to remark on Topics more familiar to me, such as History, Religion, Politics, and Senile Dementia.

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to indulge enjoy myself more, including regular exercise, healthier diet, and Music!

When I overcome my shy reluctance to comment on Stereolab related Topics, you will no doubt be invited to evaluate my evaluations.

Thanks.
