Fancied playing something different this evening and selected my 4CD box set by The Yardbirds. Hadn't played it for a while and really enjoyed it. I'm not really into the 1960s sound a great deal. I like the Velvet Underground and The Yardbirds, but that's about it apart from very early Hawkwind which was very late 60s. I love the sound of a bass guitar, and like a very prominent bass sound. I have always found the bass in 60s bands recordings to be very weak. However, The Yardbirds are a rare exception. A lovely heavy sound indeed. Anyone else like The Yardbirds?
I have selected a few tracks from 1963/64 for your enjoyment. At that time it was Eric Clapton on lead guitar. The 5:54 version of 'I Wish You Would' is fantastic, but couldn't find it. Check out the last track. A very heavy sound for 1964. Maybe the early 60s equivalent of late 70s/early 80s Motorhead.
