CA, considered a fairly liberal state, has a same sex marriage ban, passed by voters. That one was worse, but we all have work to do.

I'm hoping this will fire up his base a little bit more, as we're a bit discouraged about Obama in some ways. I felt a bit teary when I saw the video. It's an important day.

At last some good news, when all I've heard is the grim news of USA sliding further down into right wing purgatory: Kansas passing an anti-abortion bill, NC banning gay marriage. Honestly, Republican-style conservatism as we know it is not conservation of old values, but total insanity! A more psychotic variation of rigid authoritarianism, more like. Mixed with a particularly bad case of market fundamentalism. Not good! Not good at all I'm afraid.
