I like 7-10 (of this Top 10) far more than 1-6, just my opinion I guess. ___________________________________________ 10. Sex Pistols, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols (1977) 9. Personally, I would take out Bruce Springsteen and add Velvet Underground's Loaded album, and a Blondie record, but that's just me. I haven't heard some of these, although I'm aware of them.

Sex Pistols at number 10???!!! Probably the LEAST underrated group of all time. To see their album there and not, to pick one of many possible examples, any album by Joni Mitchell is frankly offensive.

This type of lists are pointless anyway. I used to do them years ago but then I stopped as I found it impossible to complete them without being left totally frustrated. But Sex Pistols? Never in a million years. I wouldn't even include them in a top 1000!

Sex Pistols is mainly considered for the cultural impact anyway. John Lydon's subsequent Public Image Ltd was musically much more interesting, at least as far as early years is concerned. I guess Metal Box is considered 1980 rather than 1979, that's why it didn't make it to this list. You can tell by so many punk albums in this list while progressive rock being almost entirely ignored (with the exception of Pink Floyd) what cultural values these critics align themselves with.

I would've put Some Girls and Loaded much higher, and taken Imagine out completely. Imagine...pffft! |

This piece falls flat on its face in its opening paragraph! "The ’70s sometimes get a bad rap: Often these years are remembered as the musical era that brought us disco at its absolute gaudiest. But there was far more going on in the decade than polyester, sequins and cocaine..." True, but none of it was as much fun. The best 10 albums of the 70s (official): 1. Ananda Shankar – Ananda Shankar and His Music 2. Fleetwood Mac – Tusk 3. The Carpenters – The Singles 1969-73 4. Geoff Love's Big Disco Sound - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind And Other Disco-Galactic Themes 5. Enoch Light – Permissive Polyphonics 6. Earth, Wind & Fire – I Am 7. The Stylistics – Best of The Stylistics 8. Philip Glass - Einstein On The Beach 9. Saturday Night Fever OST 10. Yes – Close To The Edge
