WOW. just finished listening to this in it's entirety for the first time. much like the reviews have said, it's a wonderful evolution of the greatness that is "Teen Dream." there's really nothing to criticize. what a treasure. I hope you all give it a shot. still not sure it kicks the stunning Chromatics album "Kill For Love" out of my top 2012 spot, but this could all change in a week or two. ............................................... Samey….the same could be said for Stereolab throughout the years and I don’t think it has to be a negative thing. With both bands, I think the beauty is what lies in the subtleties. I read an interview and Alex/Victoria said they hate it when bands change too much from album to album. The songs were mostly written and recorded while touring for “Teen Dream” so it makes sense that they sound similar. |

That's definitely true, but while I like Beach House a lot, I don't think they're sound is as endearing as Stereolab's, which is why I think my Beach House fatigue may be setting in a lot quicker than it might have for Stereolab...maybe? |
