I've seen a clip of that band a while ago, and really liked the song, but can't remember the name. Lead signer is a very pretty, tall and energetic black woman. The other band members are white guys. I think they're British. Best way to describe the music would be "garage soul" maybe, with hints of punk. There's definitely a "soul" root in this music, but with heavy guitars. ............................................... Re: Help me put a name on a band. She sings in English, but the name of the band is in French, if I remember correctly. |

Probably not, but did you possibly catch a clip of Solange Knowles guesting with of Montreal? See the video in this link: http://www.mrworldpremiere.net/2010/07/of-montreal-sex-karma-feat-solange.html |

Thanks, but no. What I heard was more energetic, happier and uplifting, with heavier guitars. Band name was some French sounding word like "roquettes", maybe there was a "the" before the word. Frustrating. So close, but can't put my finger on it.

It could have been Skunk Anansie, or the singer Skin, who launched a solo career after they split. It's ok what you said in the other thread, JS. I don't blame you, you were just doing your job. |

Visually it sounds like Skunk Anansie, musically it sounds more like The Go! Team, but their pretty black singer is bit takk,
