French band Les Rockets cover Sweden’s The Spotniks’ “Last Space Train” (1976).

Ahh, Visitors....cool :)

That was a project of Jean-Pierre Massiera.
I've heard it on a compilation called "Midnight Massiera". I like the "Human Egg" album he was involved with, this song is way cool:

It's already been noted in the 'Origins' series that this song - or at least the main riff - is similar to Transoma Five. Maybe this is the version that inspired it. (I'm not sure whether I love or hate this act - bit of both I think).

Transona Five

...and was anyone aware of this band?

This was the best (and most groop-esque) track of theirs I could find on YouTube, having stumbled 'pon them after stumbling 'pon that Rockets track.

One to add to bands that named themselves after Stereolab songs - have we made such a list on here?

They've been posted here and there. I believe you did the Percolator - Yellow Fire one (a song I adore and still listen to)

I posted a blatant Polish Lab knock off but I forgot the name.

There's Les Yper-Sound and The Free Design - but unless some sort of space time vortex was involved (which can't be totally ruled out), they both existed first and the groop did songs named after them. I'm sure there are more out there...

Oh and of course The Groop.

A comprehensive list would be good... maybe we need an updated fan site or something for this sort of thing, to continue where Koly left off.

5 yrs ago, I posted this sound-alike ripoff:
