Re: Why such political uniformity here?

That is a fair comment, and as you say perhaps it's the occasional directness or lack of a more "poetic" rendering that is my real problem.

Or maybe it's a bit of pretentiousness on my part. I put forward Stereolab as this forward-thinking, brilliant band; when I feel the lyrics don't meet that description, it takes me down a peg in some way?

Pretending others must be against them or for them if they choose to not respond at all. Like everyone is here reading your every word with bated breath. Pretending to go off in a huff. Etc etc etc...

That. (And slightly modified versions of that so as to apply to many of those involved in this thread.)

A couple people have said that this topic was presented insultingly or condescendingly. That wasn't my intention.

I've always felt in the minority here in some way, and suppose I was trying to express what it sounds like from where I sit whenever political stuff gets discussed.

Yeah, I still find this hard to believe, unless you are cognitively impaired, tone deaf. But whatever, it's a new dawn, it's a new day. Here's to, mmmmm, message board rebirth.

Can't argue that the shoe doesn't fit! It does.
(I'd argue that it was justified, but let's not.)

Re: Why such political uniformity here?

Pop music is generally about sharing and being free and loving. Greed just doesn't cut it. Unless of course, it's a parody:
