Re: What's your band of the moment?

thanks, GaryB!

in that order, I'm assuming?

they're one of those bands that pretty much every person, whose music taste I admire, loves. I've just never put any effort forth in exploring their discography.

I didn't even intentionally purchase the sole album in my possession. it was accidentally shipped to me by an eBay seller. I just happened to dig it!

Any order!

They didn't really put a foot wrong their first 7 or 8 years.

I agree, Gala is definitely worth checking out. Because it's a compilation of EPs with different producers, there is a nice variety of styles and songs. 'Breeze' being one of my fave Lush songs ever. After Gala, I'd suggest 'Spooky'.

I have said it before but I think Hex is by far the superior record. The engineering or recording or sound or production or whatever you call it is simply amazing. So clear and yet raw. Double drumming. Great tunes and lyrics. The opening track (The Classical) grabbed me instantly.

Having said all that, given that you say we have different tastes, Meanchico, maybe this is not the record for you.

My favourite album overall for consistency is "Perverted by Language", but the CD release with the extra tracks over the vinyl as that has some of my all time faves ("The Man Whose Head Expanded", "Ludd Gang", "Kicker Conspiracy", "Wings")....it's one of those rare occasions where I favour the inclusion of bonus tracks! I also recommend the compilation "50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong" as a great release for getting into them.

Re: What's your band of the moment?

"The Infotainment Scan" is a great starter for getting into The Fall, Gary's suggestions are all very good, you might like these too, especially

'The Unutterable' (check out the track Two Librans)

'The Wonderful And Frightening World Of The Fall'

'Bend Sinister'

and the more recent

'Your Future Our Clutter'

there are so many great Fall albums it's quite hard knowing what to recommend sometimes, I saw them live in 1986 and have been in to them ever since, in fact since the mid eighties they've always been in my top 3 favourite bands, I've currently got 27 of their studio albums.
I envy you in a way because you've got a heck of a lot of great music to discover when it comes to The Fall,
I'd be interested to know what you think of them once you've had a chance to get in to a few more albums, again I strongly suggest getting
'The Unutterable' for a starter,
all the best man and happy listening.

Hey Gary! there's nothing later than 1985 in your suggestions, do I take it you only dig early Fall?
