What strikes me as absurd is that the early Christians thought Jesus would come back in the first century, and there are still people waiting for it to happen.
If they wish for the Antichrist to come, then why are they fighting against all those things they believe as bad and "un-Christian"' like homosexuality, abortion, free love and sex, etc..?
Surely the more "depraved" our world becomes, the sooner the Antichrist will come, right?
The way I see things is that the fundamentalist Christian must fight against depravity in order to please their god and be "good" Christians, and thus, they fight hard, but if they succeed in that fight, then the Antichrist will not come... but they wish for the Antichrist to come at the same time...
No wonder they're so fucked-up in the head.

Well, if one were to look at scripture then one would find that in fact it states:
The Coming of the Kingdom of God
Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
