Re: Lager vs Ale?

I used to be a Guinness man but ran out of patience 'just waiting for it to settle'. Generally I drink cheap lager - I'm fine with Fosters, Carling, whatever, especially in the Summer (although when it gets really hot I love a Pimms with all the trimmings - lovely). But lately I've been trying out local ales - I've decided to try out ALL of them starting in Cornwall and working my way up. My favourite so far is Cornish Crown - very nice. *hic*

Frank? Fuck that shit... MANNY'S PALE ALE!

Ha. Love the Pabst jokes (but the beer is pretty lousy, I guess making Frank's rejection of Heineken all the more amusing)

Re: Lager vs Ale?

I am happy to drink a bit of everything. In fact, if I could have a new beer every time I had one, I would be quite happy.

Having said that, my days with beers that taste like horse chaff, wholemeal bread and tough beard are probably more behind than ahead. I prefer a crisp, quality lager on a hot day far more than an IPA, Porter or warm pumped ale from an obscure English pub.

I'm also a fan of a pot (285ml) rather than nursing a giant pint.

Re: Lager vs Ale?

Nowadays, vodka and soda is my usual. Sometimes G&T. As much as I love a nice pilsner, I find I need to keep an eye on my calorie intake these days :/

Re: Lager vs Ale?

I like a well made mojito - and I stress well made because the results can vary quite drastically. For starters get the sugar/lime ratio correct. This seems difficult for some reason.

What would be a suitable cocktail to go with Dots?

Something sophisticated yet tropical. There could be bubbles.

Or instead, what I have on hand now, a lovely raspberry liqueur from St. George Distillary.
