Orbits

I was lucky enough to see Wayne Shorter perform yesterday and I was spirited away.

It amazes me that at 83-years old he still has such transcendent power. While he didn't play this song yesterday (though I wish he had), his updated version of one of his original compositions 'Orbits' captures that power very well...

Re: Orbits

I saw his 75th B Day concert at Carnegie Hall a few years back and actually got to meet him after the concert. Sweet guy and an amazing artist! I remember sitting near Ron Carter and Pat Metheny during the concert. Very cool night.

Re: Orbits

I was looking for my CD of Miles Smiles just a couple of days ago - fancied a burst of Footprints. I couldn't find it, but settled on Filles De Kilimanjaro. I love that whole Miles 60s Quintet era.

83 years old, eh. Was he playing with Brian Blade? - a really inventive and powrful drummer. I saw WS with Weather Report in the olden days. Great sax player - I especially love it when he plays a ballad.

Nope, Brian Blade wasn't there - I was really looking forward to seeing that. But Terri Lynn Carrington filled in and definitely held her own!

Oh yes, she's good.
