With a smile
Trumpets and drums
The desire
For meaning comes

Re: Your favourite Stereolab lyrics?

I've read the translation for Cybelle's Reverie and I think the words are very pretty.

Re: velvet water

I have no idea what she's saying (I guess I should look it up), but this song is pure bliss, like a security blanket. Mix this song with The Creatures' Marina from Boomerang and you're all set.

Tomorrow is Already Here

I love a loop:

Originally this set up was to serve society
Now the roles have been reversed
That want society to serve the institutions

and around and around it goes

Re: Your favourite Stereolab lyrics?

Ce qui est n'est pas clos, du point de vue le
Plus essentiel,
Ce qui est ouvert, est ? ?tre
Dans une action sans fin,
Sans troph?e et sans gloire-
Une cr?ation sans fond,
Sans profit ni victoire

Refractions in the plastic pulse

What is isn't closed, in the point of view the
Most essential,
What is open, is to be
In a non-ending action,
Without trophy and without glory-
A creation without bottom,
Without profit nor victory

Re: Your favourite Stereolab lyrics?

The Stars Our Destination

In a fluid and shifting
Creative and destructive
Like a water "planet"...
Conjunction of opposites
Active, passive principles
Freedom...fire...
Fame, glory, fire, water
I will drink fire...

Humans are capable of such creativity and such destruction . Often the result of destruction is a wave of creativity in the rebuilding effort. Laetitia says she will drink fire, not literally, but her improvement (fame - the stars) will come about from having to live out a time of hardship.
