The Boston show

Outstanding show! Monade have come a long way since their appearance at TT the Bear's a couple of years ago. Le Loup could use ... I don't know ... a new singer maybe?

Yeah and i think he *IS* le loup... cuze im pretty sure it started out as a bedroom project and his friends just kept adding stuff to the album, and as a result he translated the songs back to live from a very disjointed pre-recorded state. so you might see guest vocalists on future albums. But i just dont see the singer changing. The new songs were pretty boring. One sounded a lot like Fleet foxes, who are also from the seatle region. A lot better then the Espers if any of you were tortured by them before the lab during some of the FFS tour.

Re: The Boston show

Good memory -- I forgot about The Espers. More folksy/hippie silliness, as I recall. Just right for Northhampton (the 'Lab skipped Boston on their FFS tour). I liked some of Le Loup's songs. They just lost me when the skinny guy got all riled up and started shrieking into the microphone(s).

Re: The Boston show

Espers are a billion times better than Le Loup.

Great photos, thanks. Can't say much for the review, the writer hadn't even heard them since Cobra...

Re: The Boston show

well i will take credit for the photos and blame for the words. :D

i thought i'd made it clear why i'd fallen off the bandwagon, but maybe not. . .just curious if the review would have been better had i been more familiar w/ _Margerine_ or _Microbe Hunters_ or _Sound Dust_ or the like.

Well it is 7 or 8 years worth of music you didn't listen to... I didn't realize you wrote it and took the photos, didn't mean to be harsh. Yes you did make it clear that you hadn't seen or heard much since (but yeah Oscillons is awesome). Just can't quite comprehend not getting into Sound-dust, one of their best albums to me. And I do think there's been quite a shift over time in their sound unlike what you wrote.

chalk it up mainly to:
having two young boys (starting in '00)
dealing w/ a massive flood of music

at some point, even w/ bands i like, i come to a decision that i'm not gonna be a completist...i've got about 10K copies of various cds, lps and 7" as it is...

but i will give _Sound-Dust_ a shot!
